1947
- CLP's business was first established and operated
under the name of our founder and Chairman,
Mr Lim Ching Seng, at 142B Rangoon Road (presently
94 Sing Avenue).
1950
- The business was renamed as Chop Chin Leong
1959
- CLP started to import chemicals, solvents
and paint raw materials ftom overseas and also
expanded into the Malaysian market.
- A piece of land of approximately 5,855 square
metres at Lorong Puntong (off Thomson Road)
was acquired as additional storage facilities
1965
- As Singapore gained independence, our business
flourished due to the growth of local industries
as well as the overwhelming support from our
valued customers
1973
- Chop Chin Leong was renamed as Chin Leong
Paints Pte Ltd
1976
- A piece ofland at 54 Tanjong Penjuru was leased
for the purpose of building a factory
1977
- The factory at 54 Tanjong Penjuru was completed
and commenced operations
1978
- The Construction Chemicals department was
established
1980
- The company was renamed as Chin Leong Paints
and Chemicals Pte Ltd
- Chin Leong Construction Pte Ltd was incorporated
to undertake waterproofing projects
1982
- We moved into our present premises at 2 Tanjong
Penjuru
- Taking advantage of the additional space and
facilities, we started the import of bulk chemicals
1983
- Started texture coating production using Japanese
know-how
1984
- Our first Malaysian office was established
in Port Klang, Selangor. In the same year, an
office was also set up in Merlimau, Malacca
1987
- A representative office was set up in Hong
Kong
- CLP embark on the first step of its IT journey
by computerisation of its office systems
1988
- Lamerton Ltd, our first subsidiary in the
China/Hong Kong market was incorporated
1989
- Our second subsidiary in the China/Hong Kong
market, Chin Leong International Co Ltd, was
established
1990
- The Singapore office was renamed as Chin
Leong (CLP) Corporation Pte Ltd
- A new corporate logo was adopted, to signify
the multi-directional scope of CLP' s products
and services
1992
- In late 1992, the Leather Chemical department
was first set up
1994
- Another Malaysian office was established in
Pasir Gudang, Johore
1995
- Our expansion in the Malaysian market took
on greater momentum with the setting up of yet
another office in Juru, Penang
1997
- Celebrated our 50th Golden Anniversary
- Our quality management system gained due recognition
with the attainment of the ISO 9002 certification
1998
- Invested in Overon Pte Ltd, a company dealing
in enzyme chemicals for the laundry industry
- Our Leather Chemical department took another
bold step forward with the setting up of a R&D
laboratory
2001
- In late 2001, the Waste & Cooling Water
Treatment Chemical department was established
2002
- On 1 st April 2002, the business was further
restructured and streamlined with the incorporation
of CLP International Pte Ltd, an intermediate
holding company for the group's core business
in Singapore and the region.
2003
- Chin Leong Construction Pte Ltd was renamed
as Chin Leong Construction Systems Pte Ltd to
better reflect its new strategic directions.
- Entered into a joint venture in the leather
chemical business with our partner from Spain,
Colorantes Industriales S.A. The new joint venture
company, CLP-Colorantes Pte Ltd, will benefit
both from CLP's regional network and Colorantes'
product and research expertise.
- CLP International Pte Ltd and Chin Leong Construction
Systems Pte Ltd succeeded in upgrading to the
ISO 9001: 2000 Quality Management Standard
2004
- A representative office was set up in Vietnam.
- The enzyme chemicals business, which was previously
undertaken by our subsidiary Overon Pte Ltd,
was transferred to CLP International Pte Ltd
- Our 5th Malaysian office was established in
Ipon, Perak
